Some tips to prevent a high-risk pregnancy

A high-risk pregnancy can be referred to as a pregnancy that carries potential complications that can affect the baby, the mother, or both. Such pregnancies require proper care and management to ensure the best outcomes for the baby as well as the mother. Following a healthy lifestyle can significantly reduce the chances of miscarriage due to high-risk pregnancy. First of all, women should achieve a healthy weight before pregnancy as being obese/ overweight during pregnancy can result in the development of various complications such as high blood pressure, stillbirth, gestational diabetes, and preeclampsia.

Uncontrolled pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, or Sexually Transmitted Diseases can also make pregnancy risky. Regular exercise with an intake of healthy and nutritious food can help you manage a balanced and healthy lifestyle. In addition to this, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs should be avoided during pregnancy as they can adversely impact the health of the baby. Further, all these may also cause serious birth defects such as low birth weight in babies and premature delivery. Furthermore, regular prenatal appointments should be scheduled to monitor the health of the developing baby.
